  • Premier Day Hikes: Explore Vermont's most stunning trails and peaks, guided by Peter Shear, a native Vermonter with 30 years of guiding and teaching expertise. We'll show you the hidden gems and breathtaking vistas.

 

  • Curated Culinary Journey: Indulge in an exquisite farm-to-table gastronomic adventure. From award-winning craft beers, to decadent desserts, every meal is a celebration of Vermont's rich bounty. Think world renowned culinary destinations like American Flatbread, Prohibition Pig, Hen of the Wood, Lawson’s Fine Liquids, and Pitcher Inn. Think trail snacks of the finest quality including world renowned Mashpi Chocolate from Ecuador’s cloud forest. And yes, we'll even make a stop for Ben & Jerry's. Plus every morning we will enjoy Café Las Orquideas organic coffee from Peter’s farm in Ecuador!

Your  Itinerary (starts and ends in Waitsfield, Vermont)

Day 1: Meet Up at Mad River Valley

Distance: 2.5 miles / 4 km desceent

Elevation Loss: 2036 ft

Time: 2-3 hours, easy

  • 2PM- Ride the legendary single chairlift at

       Mad River Glen ski area, ascending through

       a canvas of vibrant fall foliage to Stark's

       Nest. A leisurely downhill stroll then awaits,

       perfectly priming you for a well-deserved,

       local craft beer at the base lodge.

  • Settle into your cozy accommodations at Madbush Falls in the heart of the Mad River Valley.

  • Unpack and get acquainted with your fellow travelers.

  • Enjoy a welcome gourmet dinner at Madbush Falls Restaurant featuring local Vermont fare.

  • Sauna time.

 

Day 2: Hike to Sunset Ledge

Distance: 2.2 miles / 3.5 km round trip 

Elevation Gain: 430 ft / 130 m

Time: 2-3 hours, easy/moderate

  • Participate in a relaxing yoga session to

       start the day.

  • Embark on a moderate hike to Sunset

       Ledge, with stunning views of Lake

       Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains. 

  • Enjoy a farm to table Lunch at Hartshorn Farm capped off with a tour of Mad River distilleries and the gourmet cheese and charcuterie hub, Taste Place. After a rest or sauna back at Madbush Falls, we enjoy an evening on the town with dinner at Mad River Taco followed by dessert at Canteen Creemee Company.

  • Sweat it out in our onsite Finnish sauna and cold plunge in the neighboring stream.

 

Day 3: Hike Stowe Pinnacle

Distance: 2.6 miles / 4.2 km round trip 

Elevation Gain: 1,520 ft / 463 m

Time: 3-4 hours, easy/moderate

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​Participate in a restorative yoga

       session to start the day

  • Take in the awe-inspiring vistas

       of Mount Mansfield from Stowe

  • Pinnacle, a beautiful hiking

       destination.

  • After our hike, we quench our

       thirst at the Cold Hollow Cider Mill, before a soulful lunch at the famous                       barbecue and craft beer center, Prohibition Pig. World famous Ben and Jerry’s           is right around the corner for dessert. In the late afternoon, we visit the Warren           Store and town covered bridge before enjoying a traditional Vermont                         seasonal dinner at the historic Pitcher Inn.

  • SAVU sauna awaits in the evening.

Day 4: Hike the Monroe Skyline

Distance: 4.8 miles / 7.7 km point to point

Elevation Gain: 1,827 ft / 557 m

Time: 5-7 hours, moderate/difficult

  • Awaken with our morning yoga session, soaking in

       the tranquility of the natural surroundings.

  • Embark on a scenic hike along the Monroe Skyline

       trail between Lincoln Gap and the Sugarbush ski

       resort. A Vermont classic, this challenging,

       point-to-point hike follows the spine of the Green

       Mountains. This stretch of the Long Trail crosses

       over the summit of two of Vermont's 4,000-foot peaks, Mount Ellen and Mount           Abraham. There are stunning views of the Mad River and Lake  Champlain                 Valleys below before enjoying the descent along ski  trails to the Sugarbush               resort baselodge.  

  • Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch with sandwiches from the Warren Store and breathtaking views of the Green Mountains.

  • Aprés craft beer at Lawson’s Finest Liquids, followed by dinner at the world famous wood-fired pizza mecca, American Flatbread.

  • Sauna anyone?

 

Day 5: Hike Camel's Hump

Distance: 5.5 miles / 8.9 km point to point 

Elevation Gain: 2,588 ft / 788 m

Time: 5-7 hours, moderate/difficult

Wake your body with morning yoga

  • Challenge yourself with ahike up

       Camel's Hump, Vermont's third-highest

       peak which offers stunning views of the

       surrounding mountains and Lake

       Champlain. Our point-to-point route maximizes views and takes us up the                 Burrows Trail on the west side of the mountain and descends the Monroe Trail           to the south.

  • Reward yourself with a gourmet picnic lunch at the summit.

  • Visit the awrd winning Maplewind Farm on after our hike to learn about sustainable, free-range poultry production sytems.

  • Celebrate our hiking accomplishments with a culinary feast at the world famous Hen of the Woods restaurant, included in Condé Nast Traveler "Where in the World to Eat" list, and recipient of several James Beard Award nominations.

  • Last night sauna is... not optional!

 

Day 6: Wu Ledges

Distance: 515 miles / 8.9 km point to point 

Elevation Gain: 150 ft / 788 m

Time: 1-2 hours, easy

  • Final breakfast at Madbush Falls, checkout.

  • Our last morning together takes us on a short hike to this rocky overlook providing one last panoroamic view of the spectacular fall color and views of the Green Mountains, Lareau Farm and the Mad River Valley just south of Waitsfield.

  • After sharing amazing food and outdoor adventures amid Vermont’s stunning fall foliage, it’s tough to say goodbye — but we part ways with new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
